How to find a long term rental in Ubud, Bali
In this short blog, we offer a few simple tips on how to find a place to stay in Ubud. Bali really is a special place, full of jaw dropping scenery, energetic culture and traditions that have stood the test of time. We took some time out from our travels to live in Penestanan, a few kilometres west of central Ubud in April 2012 in a beautiful, traditional Balinese house.
1. We started by renting a cheap room in the centre of Ubud for a few days, rented a motorbike and simply drove out towards Penestanan and started looking. We chose Penestanan after hearing that it was a cool place to live, and it also helped that we had a few friends recommend the area to us.
Riding the bike there, we came across numerous hotels, signs for rooms available and by just getting off when we found a nice street and wandering around, we found it easy to ask around or even get asked if we wanted a place to rent. This was how we found our house.
2. Head to the cafes in central Ubud. There you’ll find lots of expats who will more than likely be living there themselves, plus there are quite often noticeboards offering places to rent. Just ask around.
3. Go to the local ‘Bintang’ supermarket where a large pin-board outside the main entrance displays notifications of places to rent.
4. Use www.airbnb.com – although these will inevitably be more expensive.
It really is as simple as that!
